Well now what can I say.  We have now received a fantastic donation of £10,000 from Intelligent Finance and the HBOS foundation!!! what an amazing gift to receive. The unit are absolutely delighted and I have to say so am I!!! A huge thank you the Communications team at IF for their application to the HBOS foundation.

Update 29th December
What an exciting day!  Today saw the release of our story to the Sun Newspaper.  A full page story on page 53.  This is something very exciting for us as it means that our campaign now has national coverage.  Here's hoping it raises the profile enough for other people and organisations to sit up and take notice.
Happy New Year whatever you do with it.

Update 14th December
Today saw the closure of the special care baby competition.  The winners have been announced and contacted and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who entered.

In addition, yesterday we concluded a visit from the Director of Chivas Regal with a wonderful donation to the Special Care Baby Unit fund of £5000. This is in addition to a fantastic donation from Balerno bowling club of £1750.  We have to thank Inveralmond Community High School for their £410 donation to our cause.  We have not yet reached the halfway point in our fundraising effort, but with 7 months still to go, I'm sure we'll crack the £25000 target.

Thanks to all from Angela Brown & family.  Have a fantastic Christmas and all the best for 2008.

Update 23rd November
I am pleased to announce that the Inveralmond Community High School are holding their Christmas concert on the 28th of November.  They have heard about Special Care Baby fundraising for St Johns unit and have decided to donate all of the proceeds from their concert to the campaign!!!!  What a fantastic gesture.  If high school students can see that this cause is really worth something, surely the working population can too.  Hope the concert goes well :-)

Update 14th November
Well we've now received more goodies for the charity auction next year.  Tickets are still available for the competition so get them while you can!!!

Following the BLISS report, it has added even more weight to our campaign.  The staffing issues in the special and neonatal intensive care units throughout Scotland are in more need than ever of funding and help.  We are now in the process of setting up a dedicated charity for Scottish premature and special care babies in the hope that we can carry on work similar to that of BLISS, only directed at the Scottish population.

We will keep you posted with developments.

Update 10th October
Our campaign was in the press again today.  The West Lothian Courier!  Watch out on Friday for The Sun.  We'll be in there on the 12th.

Update 9th October
Today saw the first press article released.  The Edinburgh Evening News has printed an article all about the Special Care Baby fundraising project.  The West Lothian Courier is to follow on Thursday.  Buy a paper or log on to the edinburgh evening news website.

Update 5th October 2007

Tickets for the competition are now on sale!  Obtain them directly from me on 07940 256 502 or abrown@specialcarebaby.com or if someone you know is selling them, please ask.  Remember, only 1200 tickets available and when they're gone, there will be no second release!  GOOD LUCK!

I am delighted to confirm that Heart of Midlothian FC have donated a prize for the Charity Dinner next year.  What is it?  You'll have to buy a ticket or a table to find out.....  Thank you to HOMFC.

 Update - 4th October 2007

I am very pleased to say that the West Lothian Courier have decided that they would like to run a story on the fundraising campaign for the Special Care Baby Unit at St Johns Hospital, Livingston.  I am delighted that they have taken this step as it will obviously raise awareness of the need at the unit for equipment and funding, but also increase the volume of people who find out about the competition and charity dinner evening too!  I'll keep you posted on developments.

Following a meeting today with the Special Care Baby Unit and the Head of Endowments at the NHS Lothian Health Board Endowment Fund, they have agreed to set up a specific fund designated to the St Johns Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.  RESULT!!!  They have been trying for some time to achieve this and with this fundraising campaign now kicking off, we have managed to get it into action together.  The unit are delighted as it means that only they will have access to any funds in the account and it can only be used for equipment or patient amenities.  Once the account is live, I'll be changing the website so that you can link through to donate online at the "Just Giving" website.  Every penny will go into the fund, plus gift aid will be payable, which I cannot do myself. Watch this space :-)

Rangers FC have donated a prize for next year's Charity Dinner.  If you're a Rangers fan, or even if you're not, you'll want to bid for this!! Thanks to Rangers Football Club.

Thank you to everyone who is helping to make this a success,

Angela
